Judy Chu, D-Pasadena, on Monday endorsed Pasadena Unified School District Board Education candidate Jennifer Hall Lee.“I have had the opportunity to work with Jennifer, both through her work on the Altadena Town Council as well as her efforts in establishing the Women’s History Month Assembly at Eliot Art Magnet Academy, where I had the pleasure of serving as keynote speaker,” Chu said.“Over the years, she has shown her commitment and love for her community and I can’t think of a more capable individual to serve on the PUSD School Board,” Chu said.Lee is running for the board’s District 2 seat in the Nov. 3 election against Wayne Hammack and Mike Crowley. The candidates are vying for the seat currently held by PUSD Boardmember Roy Boulghorjian, who did not file the necessary nominating papers for re-election. Lee is the only woman in the three-person race,Lee has served on the Altadena Town Council for six years. She is the current chair of the Town Council’s Education Committee. She has also chaired the Eliot Arts Annual Fund for Eliot Arts Magnet Academy, the PUSD middle School in Altadena.Along with Chu, Lee’s endorsements include United Teachers of Pasadena, The Los Angeles County Democratic Party, the California School Employees Association (CSEA), the National Women’s Political Caucus, Planned Parenthood Advocates, Jim Osterling, president/chair of the PCC Board of Trustees, former Pasadena Mayor William Paparian, ACT, Democrats of Pasadena Foothills, and Foothill Community Democrats.“It was wonderful to have Congresswoman Chu keynote the Women’s History Month Assembly.
